Birmingham Environmental Professionals Association (BEPA)

Home » About

Welcome to BEPA. The group is comprised of environmental consultants, lawyers, health & safety professionals, education (we currently have representatives from Samford, Birmingham Southern, and from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa), state and local regulators, service providers (contractors, landfills, etc.), industry, conservation organizations, etc…

Topics have ranged from “In-Situ / Ex-Situ Sampling” (which resulted in a subcommittee forming to take the issues and requests for change to ADEM representatives who volunteered their time to discuss options with them and which resulted in a favorable change in policy), “Commercial Industrial Solid Waste Incinerator / National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants”, “Updates from State regulators meeting in DC”, “Samford University’s Master of Science in Environmental Management (MSEM) program”, “Freshwater Land Trust Presentation:  ‘Removal of Historic Dam from Turkey Creek’ ”, and “New Directions in Water Policy in Alabama” given by Bennett Bearden, Director of the Water Policy and Law Institute at The University of Alabama. We also have open forum meetings where members will provide updates on relevant topics, health and safety policy updates, regulatory updates, upcoming conferences, and etc…

Our schedule of meetings for 2018 is here. We meet twice per quarter at 7 am on Friday mornings at Niki’s West Restaurant in Birmingham. We send out an agenda email a week prior to meetings. Just RSVP to that email so we can provide a delicious Niki’s West breakfast for you.

There is currently no fee to attend a meeting as many of our generous members volunteer to sponsor each breakfast. If you would like to sponsor a breakfast let us know and we will sign you up to for a quarter, half, or full meeting. Email BEPA.ENVIRONMENTAL@OUTLOOK.COM.

Once you sign in and make a name tag you are free to network. There will be at least 30 minutes provided for this before every meeting. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
